Yep, inconsistent

Haven't posted since January. Told you (if you even read this), I am very inconsistent at this writing thing. Summer is fast approaching and it has been a crazy five months. Still not an excuse for not posting.
But it does make me wonder. We have blogs, Facebook, Myspace, Twitter... what for? i try to blog, but haven't bother to push it. Even if I did, blogging a few times every year wouldn't keep people here.
I like Facebook. Great way to find old friends that you haven't kept in touch with for years. Lots of fun!
Myspace - follow a few bands that stream music there. Not much else.
Twitter. Supposedly, I will get it after using it for 6 months. I used it for a bit and then stopped. Strikes me as MTV's version of the internet.
So, if you want to friend me at facebook, search for me by name. Same at Twitter (no promises of Tweets).
Until 6 months from now!

The Week Ahead

I thought about writing something a little different. Most people write about what has happened. Why not write about what will happen? So, here is what I have planned about the coming week.
Sunday (OK, it is today): stuff around the house and getting ready for the week. And you can't beat Pittsburgh - Baltimore for the Super Bowl!
Monday - Training a class all day. President Obama is sworn into office. More on this later.
Tuesday - Not much planned.
Wednesday - Dinner out with friends from work.
Thursday - Not much planned.
Friday - My folks are coming out to visit for the weekend.

At first, it does not look like much. Of course, with family and things to do just to keep things at level, it is still a busy week. Especially if K remains sick.

What does your week look like?

Top Songs of 2008 15-19

19. Vertigo - U2
Rocking song. This instantly became one of my favorite songs and the album became one of my favorites as well. If you ever get the chance, you must see U2-3D!

18. I Wait - Tides
I have not heard another song of theirs (the beauty of Pnadora), but this one is tremendous.

17. Best I Can - RUSH
A classic from way back. Dug into the archives and found this gem.

16. The End of the Rope - Ike
Yes, you will see a lot of Ike on my Top 25. If you don't know who they are, get yourself over to ikeonline. I'll wait.

Ok, you're back. Now, head on over to myspace and check them out! But do it in a separate tab and keep reading.

15. Rosanna - Toto
There is a classic vibe in my Top 25. I rediscovered songs that I grew up listening too. Not just any songs, amazing songs. Songs that sound good 20 years later (or more). Like this one.

Sunday and the NFL Playoffs

Going back more years than I care to remember, Sundays were special days. After all, the Steelers play on Sundays. My earliest memories is that life stopped on Sundays at game time. Phones didn't ring, people were not on the road. Pittsburgh is still like that. Living in Harrisburg, it is not as common. Especially because there are split allegiances.

This afternoon, life will stop briefly one more time as the Steelers are in the playoffs. I'll enjoy the game, but will also enjoy the memories of family and friends and a community united for those few hours every Sunday in the winter.

Here we go, Steelers, Here we go!

Top Songs of 2008 20 - 25

I thought that it would be fun to take a look at my Top Songs of 2008. I have to admit that I haven't listened to music as much this year as I should have. There is one reason and that is podcasts. My enthusiasm for them is much less than it has been. Part of that is a much shorter commute to work.
The goal is to listen to a lot more music this year.

#25
Xanadu (live from Exit Stage... Left) - RUSH
Love the version of this song. Rock, yet very atmospheric.

#24
I Met a Girl - Wheat
Catchy tune.

#23
Wild Love - Kenny Wayne Sheperd
Rocking blues tune.

#22
Girlfriend - Matthew Sweet
Takes me back a few years.

#21
Beautiful Ways - Pat McGee Band

#20
Message of Love - Ike

Of course, you can head over to amazon.com and get these songs and I get a very small slice of the proceeds.

First Post

Happy New Year - 2009!

I have attempted to blog here and there. I have never been all that consistent nor have I thought of things to write. As part of a new year, I am going to write a blog this time around and do it consistently. My goal is to write weekly. I'll talk about whatever interests me at the time. This could be eclectic.

Talk to you over the weekend.
